The best thing you can do to make your transition into a vegan lifestyle a success is to watch the movies “Earthlings” and “Dominion“. Both movies will remove any doubt in your mind that you’ve made the right choice. The truth in each of those documentaries cannot be unseen or forgotten.
The second best thing you can do is understand that you simply need to make a few minor changes to have a major impact. Being vegan isn’t about being perfect. It’s about doing your best with the information available and trying to reduce the amount of suffering, pain, and destruction in the world.
For people who are new to a vegan lifestyle, I always recommend trying to limit the amount of change you take on at once. This is especially true when starting to change your diet.

This app is perfect for you when you travel and/or want to eat out. The app will show you various places where you can get a vegan meal or other vegan items. The HappyCow community is great at keeping it updated with pictures, reviews, and adding new places all the time. Since it’s user-driven, I always recommend double-checking the hours of operation online before committing to go to a place. Too many times I have shown up at a place to find it closed or the address to not be exactly correct. Learn from my experience and do a double-check, especially if it’s a long drive.
As a lifelong meat and potatoes kinda guy, I can assure you that you will not miss ANY food while adopting a vegan lifestyle. If you must have a specific food, then by all means eat that food. Just don’t allow this one thing to prevent you from being vegan all the other times. After a while of being vegan, I guarantee that you will no longer want to eat that non-vegan dish ever again.
