Your complete guide to the best vegan products
Here's a quick rundown of the best products to make being vegan an easy choice. These companies have perfected their craft and make transitioning to a plant-based lifestyle delicious and simple.
The absolute best burgers, sausages, and beef crumbles for tacos. Available at many restaurants and even Yankee Stadium! Stock ticker: BYND
Very realistic texture (maybe too realistic for some). Has more ingredients than I prefer, but still a much better choice than animal products.
Second best sausages and excellent proteins overall. Their Chao cheese is phenomenal.
One of the originals in the space. Sometimes overlooked, but all their products are consistently excellent.
The best overall, especially their shreds for pizza and tacos. Their sliced deli cheeses and Parmesan are amazing too.
The best premium cheese. Their cream cheese, fresh mozzarella, and cheese wheels are exceptional.
A pioneer in vegan cheese. Love it or hate it, but their cheesecakes are pretty good and cream cheese is decent. Second choice for pizza shreds after Violife.
The best ice cream made from cashew milk. They also make excellent unsweetened vanilla yogurt.
Makes great dairy-free ice cream options. A trusted name with consistently good flavors.
Marshmallows! Regular marshmallows aren't even vegetarian (gelatin comes from animals), but Dandies has you covered.
If you like eggs, JUST Egg is perfect for you. They've had some manufacturing challenges, but their flagship egg product is exceptional.
A family-run business that's been around forever. Their deli "meats" are excellent. The rest is just okay, but it's a company worth supporting.
The best option for holidays is a plant-based roast. Here are my top recommendations:
Best Value: Trader Joe's Holiday Roast
Also Great: Gardein Holiday Roast and Field Roast Celebration Roast
Skip: Vegetarian Plus and Tofurky roasts
Most of these items can be found at Whole Foods. Increasingly, places like Target and your local grocery stores carry them as well.
If you can't find what you're looking for locally, ask your store to stock them! The only way to increase supply is to create demand.
For hard-to-find items or to discover new products, check out Vegan Essentials. It's a bit expensive but worth every penny for the selection.
